Insulation is Still Sexy!

October 8, 2010

About 10 months ago, Obama gave his “insulation is sexy” speech at a Home Depot in Virginia.  Shortly thereafter, the computer trolls in the catacombs of the GreenHomes complex, who apparently had too much time on their hands, went to work on this high production quality video.  We all got a laugh over it, and then it sat for many months in its dark electronic corner gathering dust.  Fortunately–or unfortunately as the case may be with this particular gem–an offhand comment on a quiet Friday afternoon caused it to reappear.  So now it’s posted–and we’d all better get back to work!

Obama: “Insulation is sexy”

December 15, 2009

In an event at a Northern Virginia Home Depot today, the President talked about energy efficiency in homes.  “Insulation is sexy stuff” said Obama.  “Here’s what’s sexy about it: saving money.”  And it creates jobs we need to rebuild not just our homes but also our economy.

Big kudos to Congressman Peter Welch who earlier this year introduced legislation that closely parallels exactly what the President was discussing.

President Obama speaks on weatherizing homes and creating jobs.

Thanks,
Mike

Obama on Letterman–Jobs and EE

September 23, 2009

obama-lettermanOn Monday, President Obama appeared on on “The Late Show with David Letterman”.  (The interview aired on 9/22.)  Among many other things (including a heart-shaped potato), Obama and Letterman discussed the connection between energy-efficiency and jobs.

As captured by the Wall Street Journal:

from the Wall Street Journal coverage of Obama on Letterman):

Mr. Obama suggested that he might look to jump-start job creation by retrofitting old buildings to make them more energy efficient. “Doing that one thing could put hundreds of thousands of people back to work,” he said. To which, Mr. Letterman interjected: “We’re guilty of that here. We’ve got this enormous air-conditioning system that could be replaced somehow.” And the President asked the audience, “Are you guys cold by the way?”

Thanks,
Mike
